Skillbond Direct is now in its 25th year offering dental educational and practical courses at its Training and Conference Centre designed primarily for dental technicians specialising in Crown and Bridge Technology.
The Skillbond Education Centre comprises a purpose-built laboratory and a conference room. This area provides individual instruction for eight workstations using the latest and most advanced technology in equipment and materials. Both theoretical and practical tuition is offered, together with relevant literature, on all courses to ensure optimum understanding of each subject.

Courses are presented by various technical demonstrators from world-renowned manufacturers and are supervised by Vincent Purkiss, Skillbond's Educational and Technical Manager, who qualified in 1980 as a Dental Technology Graduate at The Royal London Hospital. As a Dental Instructor, he was involved in product research, under-graduate teaching and production work. He has attained qualifications in teaching and in advanced subjects including Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge Technology, and his outstanding achievements in this field being rewarded by the presentation of a UK National Award in 1982.
Vincent has lectured at many post-graduate seminars and teaching centres for both dentists and technicians presenting demonstrations at hospitals, colleges and commercial laboratories throughout Europe. His visits to manufacturers have involved touring the United States of America, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Lichtenstein, South Africa and Switzerland.
With his vast knowledge and experience, Vincent aims to provide delegates with the latest developments in dental technology, achieving higher standards and avoiding common technique faults associated with laboratory procedures and offers technical data and advice to customers daily.
Vincent is a registered dental technician with the GDC, a Fellow of the British Institute of Dental Surgical Technologists, and has the prestigious recognition as Licentiate of the City and Guilds Institute. In 2007, he was presented with the Skillbond Award for achievement and performance.
A broad spectrum of courses is now offered for Dentists and Technicians and includes Precision Attachments, Articulation, CAD/CAM Systems, Ceramic and Pressable Systems, Alloy Milling Techniques, Zirconia Milling Systems and Implant Workshops.
